Storyline:

Dashrath Manjhi was a poor man from the lowest of the low castes, living in a remote village cut off from the world by a rocky mountain range. Life for him was a daily struggle for survival. He loved his wife, Phaguniya, beyond belief. One day, while climbing the mountain to bring him food, his wife slipped, fell and died. Overwhelmed by grief, Dashrath decided to carve out a path through the mountain, so that no one else would suffer his fate. For 22 years, all by himself, with just a hammer and a chisel, he hammered away at the rocks, till the path was carved out from the mountain.

A common man, Dashrath Manjhi, who broke a mountain and made a path for his village, sacrificing his whole life, and end up nothing in his hands. This is the story line of Ketan Mehta's biopic, starring Nawazuddin and Radhika Apte in the lead. In some factors, movie could have been made in that purpose of inspiration to public, but, it fails to do so. Public can not be able to justify that Manjhi is enthusiastic or mad person. Dialogues could have been written strongly so people can identify the inspiration. But, public is getting only that Manjhi is doing that for his madness only. I've seen Radhika Apte in Rabindranath Tagore's stories. So the character of her in the film looks same. Tigmanshu Dhulia had a small appearance. Others have acted well. But, the film is surely dependent only on Nawazuddin. He played the title role very effectively. He can able to describe Manjhi's pain on the screen. In comic scenes, he was also adorable. One another factor, may be many didn't notice that the actor who played the role of Manjhi's father, is no more. His work is also superb. So, overall, one time watch for Nawazuddin's acting and Manjhi's story. Take inspirations!
